HONG KONG -- what a paradise for shopping and eating .
the price for all daily commodities are relatively cheaper than
other regions ... tons of choices on cuisines from different countries
sometime make you feel hard to make a decision and dizzy on
what for dinner tonight ...
How can one resist all the temptations when
everywhere got a banner with BIG WORD of " SALES " and " % " ???!!
Should i go shopping now but not sitting here writing the blog ..... lol .....

Base on the Chinese Lunar calendar , today is the 28th of Jan .
traditionally , people will do all the cleaning works for the house today ,
ready themsleves for the New Year Eve .
Since Chinese New Year is ahead , next week would be the holiday of
the Chinese New Year in all Asia region , a very traditional , big event
for all Chinese / Asian . Of course we'll have our long holiday and lots
of celebration for this cheesy festival .
This year is the year of OX base on the order of 12 zodiac , " OX "
represent hard working and patience .
During CNY , you'll see all the street / shopping mall / house ...everywhere
been decorated by RED and other ornaments such as red lanterns in oval shape
/ gold yuenbao ( representing wealth ) / Chinese knots / Chinese idioms /

Stone house .

The day before i am reading an interesting news about " 50 unusual
architectures world wide " , and i found this " Stone House " which
located in Guimaraes , Portugal and it is in Number 15 on the list .
Don't know if it is a real photo or not , but one thing is sure that
thunder / storm etc will not destory this very firm house .

" casa da musica " , i guess it is a musical theater . looks like a diamond .

Just some more pictures about the sightseeing the day
before in Central with my co-workers ,
i guess someone started to feel bornig about such post
beacuse most of the pictures are about " FOOD " ...
that's right , one of the purpose of our half-day tour is
to visit all the famous resturants in Central .
The impression of Central to most people is a place with
fancy hotels / pub in Lan Kwai Fong / meet point of all brand name's
flagship stores / a financial centre of Hong Kong etc .
This is true in some ways , this small region got lot more hidden scenes
that waiting for the others to explore .

on the boat --- i guess i am planning how to bring my co-workers
to the " sightseeing " point they want to visit ...or maybe the sunshine
just to bright ....

those very slanting streets in Portugal , it looks like just the same

Shanghai cuisines -- Dumplings and noodles
the main grain in Northern regions of China are foods made by
flour since the claimate in those areas are cold and not situable for
rice farming .They also inculded lots of meat / poultries
inside their cuisines to keep them warm .
While in Southern regions like Guangdong , claimate is much much
more warm so the main grain is rice .
4.)
near the Wanchai wet (fresh ) market , the famous " Dai Pai Dong "
( sidewalk snack booth ) named " Lan Fong Yuen " ..
those " yellow " squares" is the " toast with kaya spread " ,
" Kaya spread " is make by coconut , color like peanut spread but a bit
lighter , it is from Singapore .
5.) Way back home we took the ferry from Central to TST ,
the ticket is in coin shape . Japan is the first country using such
" coin shape ticket " in most of their transportation systems .

Cuckoo ....

she's in toilet and i am helping to keep an eyes on her stuffs ...
humm ... i guess this is why we're a match ...
it reminded me the little skirt .

Sightseeing ---Central

Being a leader ( ok ...a part-time leader ..not full time )
to tour my co-workers to Central ...
We take ferry from Kwun Tong to Sau Kei Wan ( near Quarry bay )
What a lovely sunny day with breeze .
Rushing to the pier because the ferry is almost leaving , and if you miss
it , you have to wait half an hour for the next runs .
kinda cheaper way to go to Hong Kong island besides the bus and MTR ,
only $4.8 , a half cheaper than you take MTR / Bus .
The little ferry we took , not like the big one from TST to Central ,
no windows but only balustrades , can enjoy the breeze and little bit sunshine
on the boat for about 15 minutes
a price list of an old Shanghainese hair salon in Central .
why it named " Shanghainese " , beacuse the hair cutting style and skills are
from Shanghai , even the business are only run by those from Shanghai .
and they're the only salon in Hong Kong provided not only hair trimming
but also beards shaving , which they called " the whole package "
as you can see in the first line , whole package inculded hair trimming ,
hair washing , hair drying , breads shaving , only cost $58.
A shop selling antique glasses , those in woodenbox is for testing
the degree of your myopia .
in " Le Guide Michelin " , this cake shop been evaluated as
A 3 star cake shop ( restuarant ) . They are famous because of
the croissant they made . hummm..... it smell really good before
you put it into your month , drooly only by its very rich smell of butter .
i am not that fancy with desserts and cake to be honest , but it is not
bad to share with others ...that way you can try different kinda flavors
but won't stuffing yourself ...

Just a post showing the orchid plant from a friend of my mum
for CNY ... sending flowers to others in CNY means wishing
them to have wealthy and blooming throughout the whole new year .

The day before , accompany with co-workers to Shanghai Street
for some bakery tools . Passing through Yau Ma Tei ( near Mongkok ) ,
the corridor near Tample Street and Nathan Street and is an older
area where you can find lots of traditional trades still line on the street,
including shops selling traditional wedding dresses, fung shui tools ,books
daily commodities etc .
1.)
Before mechanization on making mooncake and other tradition
chinese pastries , those "solo trader " bakery shops use this kinda
wooden floral mold to create different shapes and characters for the
cakes / pastries …. The mold have shapes in sqare / round , with lotus ,
fishs , chinese characters etc ..
2.) Wooden chopping board ...
IF you've been to the " wet/fresh market " in Mongkok or other areas ,
you will see them in those Butchery ( meat stalls ) / fish stalls ...
besides wet market , you can also found this thick wooden chooping board
been used in roasted restaurants ( those selling " Chi Siu " / " roast chicken " etc )
3.) Clogs .....
i think better to name it Chinese wooden flip-flop .
elder generation like to wear them because it is best for slippy floor .
but it is also heavy at the same them ...
